The exhibition “Connections” was born from the union of two different artists – urban contemporary landscape painter Baiba Ābelīte and designer, graphic artist Visvaldis Asaris, whose work in painting is not often exhibited. Although the two artists’ handwriting and means of artistic expression are drastically different, they are both united by the theme dealt with in the cycles of paintings – the Earth. The works of Visvaldis Asaris, which are displayed in the exhibition, are characterized by a range of earth tones, rhythms and interplay of squares, nostalgic layering, expressive textures as sediments of memory imprints. In these works, the artist solves the Latvian code of his land and land, bringing it to a golden shine – it is our history and wealth. Meanwhile, Baiba Ābelīte focuses on the depiction of urban themes in art in her work, creating paintings on metal, creating installations and digital art objects that tell about the dynamics of the century, the clutter of information, the pollution of nature and thought on planet Earth. The work of both artists are inseparable in this exhibition, inviting you to perceive it as a single whole and a new connection – fusion. In the exhibition, the works are brought to life and viewed virtually using the Overly application, which means that part of the artwork, or even the entire work, is created with the help of an autonomous system, without the intervention of the artist.
